Saudi Arabia has hosted a number of world-class sporting events, including top boxing matches, the Saudi International Golf, and the Formula One Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Arab News reported that the chairman of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation, Prince Saud bin Mishal Al-Saud, stated, “Our aim is to create a sustainable industry for locals and expats living in the Kingdom and make Saudi Arabia a global cricketing destination” last month.

The International Cricket Council’s chairman, Greg Barclay, previously stated that cricket interests Saudi Arabia, which has invested heavily in sports tourism.

“If you look at other sports they’ve been involved in, cricket is something I imagine would be attractive to them,” Barclay stated, according to a report.

“Given Saudi Arabia’s general expansion into sport, cricket would work quite well for them.” Cricket seems like an obvious sport to pursue given their regional presence,” he continued. They are quite eager to put money into sports.”
